Underwater Digital Cameras 101 For Landlubbers
First came the camera. Then there was the underwater camera. After that came the digital camera ? and now we have underwater digital cameras. Underwater digital cameras are ideal for capturing the beauty of the undersea world (or the bottom of your swimming pool if you have that special artistic eye!). They are used by both scientists and scuba divers. Digital cameras come in many well-known brands including Kodak, Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus. Surprisingly enough, the cheapest brands cost less than $200, although prices rise quite steeply for the highest quality cameras.
Some of the advantages of underwater digital cameras include:
- You can plug them into a TV.
- They are smaller and lighter than film cameras
- Bad shots can be easily deleted
- They can change resolution, which is useful for wide-angle photography in low lighting conditions underwater
- They produce better high-resolution shots
- They never run out of film (because they don't use film!)
- They have better depth of field (up to 4 times that of film cameras)
- They feature strobe shutter speeds as fast as 1/800th of a second, much faster than even the best film cameras
- Applications include sea mode, land mode, and external flash mode
Here are some examples of the best underwater digital cameras:
1. The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z1000
It has a 2. 8 inch LCD screen and 10 megapixels. Housing is required. Up to 3,2000 ISO. 3x optical zoom lens, and it even includes an anti-shake feature.
2. The Pentax Optio
It has a 2.5 inch LCD screen and 7 megapixels. It requires no additional housing. Usable for up to half an hour in depths of up to 5 feet. It can even be used for shooting underwater videos. Up to 1,600 ISO.
3. Fuji Film FinePix A400
Complete with waterproof housing, 4.2 megapixels. What's more, it's CHEAP - under $200 at the time of this writing).
4. SeaLife DC500
Includes both Land and sea flash modes. 5 megapixels, 3x optical zoom. Features an anti-shake function that compensates for movement by either the photographer or the subject.
The foregoing is only a small smaple of the total range of brands, cameras, and features available for photographers of almost any budget and any level of sophistication.

Ok, it works fine but not only detects hidden cameras. As says in the description "Detects frequencies from 50MHz to 3GHz" so if you have anything that works in between those frequencies this detector will found it and the alarm will be activated (even though is not a hidden camera).

Customer Review: Perfect Camera
I did a lot of research before I bought this camera. I own a few other digital cameras that are not made by Canon and I was not pleased with quality of the pictures these cameras took. So, I began to do a lot of research on the internet and asking people I know what type of digital cameras they had. Pleasantly supprised a lot of the people I spoke to prefered Canon Digital Cameras. I've had this camera for about two months and I love the pictures that I have taken with it.
I'm extremely happy with this camera and would recommend to anyone.
Customer Review: "CHDK" Power
I bought this camera because of the CHDK. In general, this camera is not good for indoor and don't think about flash (flash interval is too slow). Outdoor is perfect for this one, picture quality is very good(compare with the DSLR). Video with sound recording is amazing.
Outdoor--LCD is bad, I always use the viewfinder.
Convertable tube for external filter (52 mm) blocks view finder about 30%, but it worth for lens protection.
Image stabilizer's not good, I can't tell the different between on and off(Blurrr) for slow shutter speed. 2AA-Battery is good for all day use.(show %Bat with CHDK)
But with the CHDK modification, you get everything you want: RAW, Interval timelag photo, bracketing, overide-shutterspeed-aperture-ISO, histogram, DOF value, and you can write your own a basic script. The CHDK affects only for the SD memory card, don't worry about the damage of your camera. If something wrong, just take the SD out. I used CHDK for 3 months without any problem. Thank you CHDK..
Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad
Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad
Compatible with most portable GPS receivers / Weighted, antiskid design securely holds your GPS receiver to your dashboard
Customer Review: DON'T ADVERTISE YOUR ---GPS
TAKE YOUR GPS HOLDER OFF YOUR WINDOW------THIS LITTLE GEM WORKS JUST GREAT. WHEN YOU GO IN FOR THE NIGHT, UNPLUG YOUR GPS, PUT THE GPS IN ITS CASE, AND PUT THE HOLDER AND PAD IN YOUR TRUNK. KEEP IT OUT OR SIGHT AND SAFE.
Customer Review: Simple solution is the best!
Thank heavens someone invented the Nav Mat and I don't have to deal with the windshield mount - it's really a pain. Just make sure you stick the suction to the Nav Mat as securely as you would to the windshield and it won't fall over (duh - my mistake!) The Nav Mat makes your GPS even more convenient!
Nikon Lens Pen Cleaning System
Nikon Lens Pen Cleaning System
Your binocular or telescope uses highly precise optics. It's important to keep them as clean as possible to assure the best performance. Nikon makes it really easy and simple with the Lens Pen Cleaning System.
Customer Review: Works Great!
This type of cleaning system for lenses works great. I ended up getting the smaller one, just like this larger one also. They keep the lenses of my cameras spotless. They fit in the camera bags and have the option of clipping to the side of the bag on the outside so that they are handy but won't get lost.
Customer Review: Good but Nikon could have gone farther
This is a Nikon branded version of a product called Lenspen and the Lenspen set that I got for $20 at a trade show included three sizes of cleaning pens; only the largest of which Nikon chose to market as this 'system'. If they had gotten the other two smaller sizes, the problems with binocular ocular lenses and even tiny fixed camera lenses (like a Treo or iPhone) could have been cleaned.
So to this particular pen: I like it a lot and it really does a good job on my Canon digital SLR. The Lenspen rep stated that there is a cleaning compound inside the cap which coats the cleaning tip with something like a fine carbon black powder and that is what makes it so effective in cleaning the lenses of oils and dirt without scratching.
Of course the fine brush at the other end is used to brush off the large grit and damaging dirt before you move to the cleaning tip.
All in all, this is a good part of a more complete system. If you have no need for smaller lens cleaner, this is a good choice.
